Emerging Leaders: Mid-Level Managers Who Aspire to Grow

The program focuses development mid-level managers who want to further their careers.

Targeting mid-level managers who aspire to grow in their positions as well as prepare for future opportunities, this program will provide eight class days on those topics most foundational to leadership success. Participants will be accountable to the class for reporting on their progress at each session.

Our classroom based programs were put together based on the direct feedback of CEOs of some of the world’s most successful companies. We asked them what their VP level and Senior Director level employees needed to be ready to move into positions of even greater responsibility. We gathered that feedback and then searched the world for the most experienced, knowledgeable executives we could find in those individual areas of expertise. The result is a program where the class meets every other month for two days and in those days, the student has the chance to learn from some of the world’s foremost authorities on the subject matter at hand. 

Emerging Leader Overview: 

Day 1: Orientation and Team Building

·       Gain a better understanding of myself as a result of behavioral assessment

·       Learn and practice the art of getting things done through teamwork

·       Understand the stages of team development


Day 2: Presentation Skills

·       Learn the components of a successful presentation

·       Understand the importance of stories and presentations

·       Practice designing and delivering a brief presentation


Day 3: Change Management

·       Understand change management at three levels: personal, group and leadership

·       Learn the six stages of the Change Cycle, and practice ways to assist employees in moving successfully through the stages

·       Discover the most effective leadership practices at each stage of the Change Cycle


Day 4: Critical Thinking and Strategic Alignment

·       Learn and practice some critical thinking tools

·       Understand the importance of alignment in the organization

·       Identify and practice elements of decision-making that leverage leaders’ influence


Day 5: Dealing with Difficult Situations

·       Understand the importance of dealing quickly with difficult situations

·       Discover a model for dealing with difficult people that minimizes emotion

·       Learn and practice three mindshifts of successful difficult conversations


Day 6: Networking, Professional Image and Social Media

·       Learn the importance of networking and practice methods for success

·       Discover the benefits and pitfalls of social media, and how to use it to your best advantage

·       Understand the importance of a professional image


Day 7: Coaching and Performance Management

·       Learn to develop and motivate your stars to progress in their careers

·       Learn to make performance management an ongoing activity, not just something that happens once or twice a year

·       Learn and practice a method for performance improvement that everyone will enjoy


Day 8: Leadership Style

·       Learn the model of Situational Leadership

·       Develop a mindset of a leader
